Dota2 Rank Distribution and how it Works

The Dota2 rank distribution is a system of ranking that measures the skill level of a player in a game. This system is based on a series of tiers which shows the percentage of player base. The tiers can easily be determined by the player’s MMR which is a numerical value that shows the ranking of a player. The higher MMR in a game, the higher will be the rank. The rank distribution tells about the skills of a player and the diversity of the game community. The players can easily get information about where they stand while comparing to others. In this blog, we will discuss the rank distribution, percentile, and how it works.

Percentage and percentile in Dota2 rank distribution

The percentiles show how many players are in the same tier and the percentile tells how many players are better. By looking at all the statistics you can make improvements in the game. The data for this percentile and percentages are only determined by a few specialized websites. Tools may also be used to get the data such as Startz. Understanding Percentile

The lowest rank(Herald1) in Dota2 MMR consists of 0.5% of the total players. So, we can say that 99.5% of the players are better than them.  The Herald2  has a percentile of 1.59% so it means 98.41% of players are better than this. The immortal rank has 100 percentile which means only a few members exist in this rank. This is the highest rank and players in this are better than 98.30% of players. You can see that the percentile is the reverse of the percentile. For example, a player belonging to the 80 percentile shows that it belongs to 20% of the gamers.  The ranking can be boost by using MMR boosting.

dota2 rank distribution

The extracted data shows that Archon has the largest group of players. It shows that you are better than 50% of the players. From this point, the average can easily be determined. The legend category has a 72 percentile which means it belongs to 28% of the players’ group. A small percentage of players belong to Immortal rank. The skill gap between various is massive. The games become competitive when you cross the Ancient rank. As you can see Ancient, Divine and immortal rank makes up 13% of the total players. There is a huge gap between ranks which is why players have to wait to start their game.

MMR VS Ranking Distribution

The ranking distribution is a different way to analyze your game statistics. It is not better or worse than MMR. It shows the figures from a different perspective. You can compare your game to others. MMR is easy to understand as compared to ranking distribution. To check MMR you can easily click on the Dota2 MMR profile but to check ranking distribution you have to understand percentile and percentage concepts.
